The Farm – June 2009

Pool time on the porch.

Last Saturday, we all gathered at the farm to enjoy a little family time together.  Dad and Janice had just returned from their three week adventure in Europe and we were all excited to hear about their trip. So many great stories to share. And speaking of sharing, they were thoughtful enough to bring back souvenirs for us as well.

I can’t wait to see what is in this tube while Josh giggles as Terry unwraps his magnet of Michelangelo’s, David.

As a “happy” for the kiddie-poos,  Janice bought a hilarious inflatable blue hippopotamus swimming pool for the little ones to enjoy.  Levi with his giant sun hat and green Baby Ban sunglasses christened the pool.  He seemed to really enjoy it.  By the time Terry and I arrived he had already been for a dip but was gearing up for another.  After a snack and a little rest he was ready to go again.

After Roy, Leah, Lily and Chris arrived, Dad fired up the gas grill and we all enjoyed hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, potato chips, and deviled eggs.  We ate until we could eat no more.  Well, except for dessert which was my all time summer classic, strawberry shortcake. That morning before we all arrived, Dad and Janice drove to Portland and bought just picked, sun-ripened strawberries.  The shortcakes and whipped cream were made from scratch and the strawberries were delectably sweet.  We were all in unmerciful agony from having eaten too much but it was totally worth it.

As an intermission before dessert, Lily and Levi hopped into the pool for another swim.  They both love the water, splashing, kicking and playing with the floating toys.  I anticipate many fun vacations anywhere where there’s a pool.

For copyright and legal issues, many of the photos were contributed by Dad.
