Thanksgiving – 2011

Happy Thanksgiving!

What a perfect day for food and family. The weather, sunny and clear in the upper 50’s, was a picture perfect fall day. Terry, Shirley and I arrived at the Farm to a bountiful display. The dining room table was in its glory set with elegant, ivory Lenox china sitting atop golden chargers, each plate adorned with hand written place cards. Each place was set with the sweet, First Love flatware that was Papa’s, fine linen napkins held with pewter stag heads or fanciful moose napkin rings, crystal clear Fostoria tea glasses, wine glasses, bread plates with butter knives and individual salt cellars with tiny sterling silver spoons.

Elegant table.
Stunning fall centerpiece.
This turkey is too cool!

Outside on the back porch catching a few rays of sunshine.

The menu this year was created from recipes from Southern Living magazine and they were all incredible.

Thanksgiving Menu
Roasted turkey
Blackened turkey
Green beans
Deviled eggs
Mashed potatoes
Cornbread dressing
Two types of gravy
Hot rolls

I was asked to make the cranberry relish which I happily agreed.

Dad and Janice man the kitchen making sure everything is timed perfectly while Jill and Chris hang out and supervise.

Look at all this gorgeous food!

And as for dessert, Jill made an Ooey Gooey cake from Paula Deen which was amazing while Dad made two pecan pies. Everything was delicious.

The dessert table is ready for action.
Jill's towering Ooey Gooey cake.

Double trouble. Dad’s delectable pecan pies.

Norma was also able to join us for this day of thanks giving while Roy, Leah, Lily and Elijah went over the river and through the woods to Grandmother Ginny’s and joined Jennifer and all of her extended family for dinner.

Gobble, gobble y'all!
