Whenever we have the opportunity, we welcome Levi to spend some time with us during his two week, fall and spring breaks. Believe it or not, he willingly, without being guilted into it, agrees to this turn of events. So Sunday afternoon, I went to the Farm and picked Levi up and brought him back to Franklin so he could hang out with us for just a few days.

Monday came and after a late but hearty breakfast, we were ready to play. This year Levi’s spring break just happened fall on the same week as Lily and Elijah’s. That is divine providence as it has never happened before. Unbeknownst to Lily and Elijah, Roy and I secretly planned to hook up the cousins and let them go crazy.
Levi and I waiting for Lily and Elijah to arrive.
Surprise!!! Can you tell these guys missed each other?
They have the need for speed.
Playing card game Exploding Kittens while eating lunch and then watching a little TV.
As darkness fell, Roy ordered pizzas for us all with a special order of garlic bread for Lily and we started to watch “The Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”. Lily and Elijah had already seen it and were vying for “Thor Ragnarok”. We were just about one minute into the movie when the internet sputtered out. Well, since necessity is the mother of invention, the kids hopped up and decided to make their own movie. While they let their imaginations run wild, Roy and I kicked back, listened to The Police and Pink Floyd on his turntable and talked about movies, especially the Marvel franchise.
Levi and I finally tapped about about 10pm and headed home.
What a great day!

Terry made Levi waffles with sausage links for breakfast this morning while I packed lunches of ham sandwiches, chips, Cokes and M&M’s to take to Roy’s.
Once again, the kiddos played with wild abandon bicycling, skateboarding, and Razor scootering. Throw in a Nerf war, a Segway and ping pong and you have the makings of the perfect day.
Since we were officially on spring break, we were allowed to break all the rules, including totally bypassing a healthy, nutritious dinner. With that in mind, we ordered pizza once again. Yes, two nights in a row. I am so happy! I did have Roy throw in a salad for me to assuage some of my carb loading guilt and we settled in to watch “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”. This is good parenting in action.

Taking turns on a Segway.

Hello Vernal Equinox. Yep, today is the first day of spring and it couldn’t be more welcomed.
Lily and Elijah were back in school today so Levi was stuck with us old codgers. Since I had monopolized all of Levi’s time, Terry took him out for a bro breakfast at Ruby Sunshine in downtown Franklin so they could have a little time together.
The rest of the day, Levi and I watched movies including the circa 1998 “Godzilla” movie set in New York City starring Matthew Broderick and then the 2014 version also aptly named, “Godzilla” set in San Francisco, the 30th movie in the franchise. After that we watched “Sherlock Gnomes”which was charming. We enjoyed our movie watching experience with popcorn and refreshing Roy Rogers a.k.a. a Shirley Temples.
Before we knew it, his time with us had come to an end but what fun and wonderful memories we have to treasure.
