Happy 50th birthday to my baby brother!
For this milestone, I presented him with “Roger Waters The Wall Live in Berlin” double album which he has ruminated was possibly the best live concert ever. On July 21, 1990, a live production of the Pink Floyd album, “The Wall” was performed on the area between Potsdamer Platz and the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany formerly known as “no man’s land”, that commemorated the recent fall of the Berlin Wall. Roy remembers patiently waiting for the concert to air. He also shared that while they were setting up for the production, they found a previously unknown, SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler bunker on the site.
His retro birthday card was an upspooling cassette tape reminding him of the good old days when you would record music from the radio or an album to make your own playlists to listen to. To mark this special day, I included a list of Billboard’s top 20 hits from the day he was born, August 18, 1973.
