Lily & Elijah’s Birthday – 2014

On what happened to be the coldest day in recorded history for May since 1983, we gathered at Roy and Leah’s for a Slip n’ Slide Birthday Party for Lily and Elijah. Brrrr. Since the party had already been postponed once due to forecasted thunderstorms (not ideal to have a yard full of mini-human lightning rods running around you know) they decided to sally forth. And since children seem to have no real concept of hot or cold, they ran around all higgledy piggledy, throwing themselves into the frigid waters and seemed to be impervious to the chilly temps until their lips turned blue and they began to shiver uncontrollably. Good times.

Just when hypothermia seemed eminent, the kidlets gathered in the front yard to sing “Happy Birthday” as Elijah and Lily blew out the candles on their individual beach themed cakes. And this year, in lieu of gifts, Lily asked her guests to bring a bag of dog and/or cat food, kitty litter and/or pet toys that would later be donated to the Williamson County Animal Shelter. Such a big heart.

Despite the cold, everyone had a blast slipping and sliding, playing badminton, making good use of the swing set and sand box and playing pick up games of soccer in the field.

So here’s wishing a  happy 6th birthday to Lilybug and a happy 3rd birthday to sweet baby Elijah!
