Immersive Van Gogh

If you have the opportunity to experience the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit, run don’t walk, don’t dilly dally, don’t lollygag, run to experience this amazing event. It is difficult to put into words this flowing collaboration of art and music that is mesmerizing. Images from Van Gogh’s canvases were isolated, duplicated, replicated then overlayed and animated to create a swirling, richly detailed vision. Viewing Van Gogh’s art with its expressions of love, joy and sorrow in such an expansive manner, I found myself tearful at times, moved by its scope and beauty. I was equally moved by the music that was woven like a tapestry to evoke anguish and despair, tenderness and hope. Here’s an excerpt describing the event:

... you will be immersed in Van Gogh’s works – from his sunny landscapes and night scenes to his portraits and still life paintings. The installation includes the "Mangeurs de pommes de terre" (The Potato Eaters, 1885), the "Nuit étoilée" (Starry Night, 1889), "Les Tournesols" (Sunflowers, 1888), and "La Chambre à coucher" (The Bedroom, 1889), and so much more. Lose yourself in the ultimate immersive art experience – surrounded by over 500,000 cubic feet of monumental projections animating Vincent van Gogh’s oeuvre. Wander through entrancing, moving images that highlight brushstrokes, detail, and color – truly illuminating the mind of the genius. Astonishing in scale and breathtakingly imaginative, you will experience Van Gogh’s art in a completely new and unforgettable way. The exhibit is designed and conceived by Massimiliano Siccardi, with soundtrack by Luca Longobardi, who both pioneered immersive digital art experiences in France.

The music curated for the Immersive Van Gogh set the mood and provided the backdrop for this sensory journey, from the  lifting, Non, je ne regrette rien by Édith Piaf which represented Vincent’s time in France to the haunting Chapitre I by Murcof.
