Halloween – 2021

We’re on the brink of adventure children.” ~ Mary Poppins

When I was a little girl, The Wonderful World of Disney would air Mary Poppins on ABC. There I sat, glued to the television singing along with Julie Andrews as the magical nanny, Mary Poppins and Dick Van Dyke as Bert, the lovable chimney sweep. What a joy!

Elijah has a friend that lives a few blocks from us and he was invited to go trick-or-treating so I decided to channel the enchanting nanny, don her iconic costume and go trick-or-treating with Roy and Elijah. Roy arrived as paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant from the movie Jurassic Park while Elijah was a thoroughly creepy, slithery alien creature. Roy and I chaperoned the kiddos and had a great time looking at all the costumes and Halloween decorations.

What a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Halloween!

Roy posted this photo on his Facebook page:
Michelle explaining to the little ones how a spoonful of sugar (and a thwap from the umbrella handle) makes the medicine go down.

The little girl in the scarecrow costume whispered lightly, “Mary Poppins” mesmerized as if I was the magical incarnation of the nanny herself. It tickled me pink.
Nothing more heart-warming than a father and his alien.
