Halloween – 2018

“Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds, which I should first break through, and pour a torrent of light into our dark world.” (Frankenstein, 1818)

My jack-0-lantern muse this Halloween was the “unholy creation,” Frankenstein. This year marks the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s haunting novel, “”Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus” so Halloween seemed the perfect setting to create a homage to her own indelible creation.

Preparing our pumpkin. Pumpkin guts are the best.

Doppelgänger. Boris Karloff’s Frankenstein from the 1931 movie and our creation.

I joined Roy and the kids this year as they trick-or-treated in their neighborhood. Lily channeled the vengeful ghost, Samara from the horror movie, “The Ring” while Elijah decided to strike fear with his gruesome, headless boy costume. Very disturbing.

Roy received his orders and hit the flight deck as navy elite fighter pilot, Goose from the adrenaline fueled movie, “Top Gun”. And I went old school and donned a witch costume. Good witch or evil? You decide.
