Everyone is so busy that it seems like it has been forever since we were all able to get together. But today was the day. We gathered at the Farm to watch the legendary battle between the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the Florida Gators, to eat and to play. Chris was still at Orange Beach and he was sorely missed.
One of the best parts of any fall football weekend has to be the food. I believe that televised sporting events are just a food delivery system. It’s a wonderful excuse to eat all of your favorite grub without guilt and self-loathing. Jill made her delicious pigs in-a-blanket, so yummy, Roy brought a triple batch of homemade clam dip because a double batch just doesn’t cut it, while we brought a crockpot of homemade chili with all the fixings and homemade oatmeal cookies. It all looked so good that it was really hard to wait for game time.
The weather was beautiful and the kiddos spent a lot of time outside in between vegging out with video games. In between halves, Jill and Janice worked in the garage priming and painting furniture to be repurposed in the log cabin. Later that afternoon, I tagged along as Jill collected eggs from the chicken coup. A few of the eggs were on the iffy side so Jill gave them to the kids to play with. And by play with I mean they wanted to destroy them.
It was an absolutely awesome day and even though the Vols gave it their all, they lost to their reptilia nemesis 26 to 20.
