This afternoon I headed to the Farm to bestow my best wishes to Dad on Father’s Day. I found him along with Janice, Josh, Jill and Levi relaxing on the screened-in porch under the cooling breeze of the ceiling fan. Josh’s dad Phil had joined them for a hearty breakfast this morning and hadn’t long departed when I arrived. To celebrate the day, I brought along a few little happy’s for Dad to open and then we made our way across the field to Bill’s house so they could show me all the updates and changes to Edith’s Farm.
All I can say is, “Wow!”. The half bath off of the garage is just as cute as it can be and company ready. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, glassware, cutlery, and everything you could possibly imagine if you were cooking or baking. The enormous framed painting of horses was hung in the dining room, the base of the dining room table painted a matte black, a rug laid and dining chairs acquired. In the living room, a television of mind blowing proportions hung over the mantle and bar stools were added at the pass through to the kitchen.
Other changes downstairs included the creation of an office slash extra bedroom with the addition of a daybed with trundle and a desk while the master bedroom looked cozy and peaceful with complete bedding, lamps, side tables, accessories and artwork adorning the walls.
Upstairs both bedrooms were fully appointed and the hall bath was ready to go with the addition of some white, fluffy towels.
The biggest wow however was the addition of the pool table which had recently been moved from the basement to what will become the game room. If that pool table could talk, what tales it could tell: countless games of billiards played, teenage hijinks, endless baskets of laundry folded, and a witness to the changing seasons of all of our lives.
I had a great little visit and was soon heading home. Roy was celebrating Father’s Day today with the kiddos as they kicked off their adventurous, week-long trip to the west coast, flying out this morning, dark and early. He will definitely be having a Father’s Day to remember.
