BGA Grandparents Day – Show Time

Giggles post production.

Today was Grandparents & Special Friends Day at BGA. Fred and LaJuana were in town for just today and had arrived at the upper school early enough to save me a seat in the third row. That’s the closest I’ve ever been to the front row ever.

The theme this year was “Show Time!” and as usual it was an amazing performance. Elijah’s first grade class sang “Step in Time” from “Mary Poppins”. I just love that tune and it brought back movie memories of Dick Van Dyke as Bert the chimney sweep leaping from London’s rooftops singing and dancing. Next was Bob Seeger’s “Old Time Rock and Roll” from the movie “Risky Business” and the kids rocked it out.

Lily’s fourth grade class performed a song they wrote as a class called “Time” and the Steve Miller Band’s, “Fly Like an Eagle” from the movie “The Big Chill” which has one of the best soundtracks in movie history.

The grand finale consisted of all the lower school classes, the combined choir and the concert band performing “What the World Needs Now is Love” before dismissing for the day. The kiddos did a bang up job and it looked like they had as much fun performing as we did watching.
