BGA Grandparents Day – 2017

Hey guys….is there something on my head?

The theme this year for BGA’s Grandparents & Special Friends Days was “Destinations” which proved to be quite a groovy little show.

The combined choirs, which included Lily, the concert band and the contemporary music ensemble kicked off the production with Johnny Cash’s, “I’ve Been Everywhere Man”. The perfect way to begin our musical tour of “Destinations”.

The kindergarten classes were up next and performed two light and trippy songs by The Beatles. Adorned with octopi headpieces, the first song they performed was the super far out, “Octopus’ Garden” from the Abbey Road album. Can I just say how adorable it was to see the itty bitty’s singing along with some of the members of the senior choir.

We all live in a yellow submarine.

The next fab song from the kindergarteners was “Yellow Submarine” from The Beatles 1966 album, Revolver. Again, too cute!

And what about the  3rd and 4th graders you may ask. They performed “My Destination”, an original song that the 4th grade class wrote during their field trip to the W.O. School of Music in Nashville and  “Long Train Running” by the Doobie Brothers in which Lily had a speaking part. And since Lily is also part of the Wild Cat Choir, she also participated in a production of “Motown Rockin’ In Rhythm”, a compilation of Motown’s classic hits.

For the finale, all the lower school classes joined together and sang, Tom Cochrane’s “Life is a Highway” which had all the grandparents and special friends on their feet, clapping, shaking their tooshies and singing along.

One groovy chick!
