Bell Buckle

This afternoon, Terry and I drove to Bell Buckle to meet Dad, Janice, Jill, Levi and Grandmother Ginny for dinner at the Bell Buckle Cafe. We took the scenic route down Columbia to 840 and then through College Grove, Unionville and miles of open rolling farmland.

After waiting for a train to lumber through town, we parked and window shopped until everyone arrived.

Upon arrival, we were seated immediately in the rear of the cafe next to the stage. Chicken and dumplings seemed to be the crowd favorite with chicken fried steak a close second. New and fried potatoes, turnip greens, carrot casserole, white beans and ham, mac and cheese lots of corned bread, a cheeseburger and fries for Levi and a basket of fried green beans with cucumber wasabi dressing all graced our table. Delicious!

And don’t forget dessert. Jill, Janice and I all ordered the Oatmeal Cake with caramel sauce with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, Dad had the peach cobbler while Grandmother Ginny had the blackberry, and Terry and Levi went the chocolate route with a chocolate cobbler and fudge pie respectively.

It was all so good and we waddled out of the cafe satiated and satisfied.

After a few photos and hugs, we headed home into the waning sunlight and marveled at its beauty as it bathed the landscape in warm, golden hues as it slowly faded and said good night.
