This afternoon we gathered in Elizabethton to celebrate the impending arrival of Rachel and Sean Claiborne’s baby girl, Adeline Lorraine Claiborne. It was a beautiful time to all be together for such a joyous occasion.
Roy, the kiddos and I were on the road bright and early and enjoyed the beautiful fall foliage along the way. We arrived at Grandmother Ginny’s house early enough to hang out and visit for a few hours before the party.
The baby shower was held in a charming, boutique space in downtown Elizabethton called, Building 520. Atmospheric with a loft studio vibe, it had exposed brick walls with stylish, modern furniture including velveteen sofas, chairs and footstools perfect for creating conversation nooks. The room was also accented with stunning floral arrangements that were designed by Terri’s granddaughter, and co-hostess Candace.
And let’s not forget the nibbles. Along with this gorgeous setting, was a table covered with delicious sweets and savories. An enormous charcuterie platter took center stage and was surrounded by cheese straws and crackers, and tiered servers of cookies and chocolates. There were additional serving areas around the room with treats including petit fours, pink sparkling cider, dragonfruit infused water, and pink and white, customized M&M’s.
As always, Rachel looked stunning and she and Sean were both beaming. They received so many wonderful, thoughtful, and creative gifts. There were games to play, guess Rachel’s belly size using lengths of pink yarn, guess how many chocolates are in the baby bottle, writing messages on diapers with Sharpies for Rachel and Sean so they may find humor in the monotony of never ending diaper changes, and notecards called “Wishes for Baby” with a list questions for each of us to answer that will hopefully one day fill Adeline with inspiration and wisdom.
It was lovely seeing everyone and we were all thrilled to celebrate this tiny, new life and soon-to-be newest member of the family. It was a grand gathering and I was so happy to be able to visit with Rachel and Sean, Jan, Terri, Richard and Patsy, Patricia, Carrie and Candace, Patrick, Kathy, and Hunter, Grayson, Logan and Willa, Meg and Fielder, and sweet Ashley.
Many thanks to Terri, Patricia, Carrie and Candace for hosting such a wonderful event.
